Extreme H, a groundbreaking off-road racing series, is poised to revolutionize the motorsport industry by introducing hydrogen cars in 2024. This new championship will run alongside the established Extreme E series, both sharing the same race locations, dates, and format. Alejandro Agag, the visionary behind Formula E, envisions two potential paths for hydrogen integration in Extreme H: combined racing with existing technologies or a complete transition to hydrogen power. Development work on the Extreme H car is already in progress, with a prototype expected to be unveiled in early 2023. Unlike its electric counterpart in Extreme E, the Extreme H vehicles will utilize hydrogen fuel cells as the central power source instead of batteries. Notably, organizers have committed to using green hydrogen, produced from water and solar energy, to fuel the race cars. This eco-friendly approach mirrors Extreme E's use of green hydrogen for charging EV batteries and to power the paddock.
