Siemens Mobility and Tyczka Hydrogen have joined forces in the hydrogen railway sector to offer comprehensive solutions for fuel cell trains. The collaboration aims to address the decarbonization needs of the railway industry by transitioning from fossil fuels to renewable options, particularly in areas where electrification is challenging. Through a recently signed Letter of Intent, the two companies have committed to working together to expedite the adoption of hydrogen-powered trains. The partnership covers the entire supply chain, including hydrogen production, storage, distribution, refueling, delivery, and maintenance of fuel cell trains. This integrated approach also includes Smart Train Lease, a subsidiary of Siemens Mobility, which provides hydrogen trains for rent, making eco-friendly mobility more accessible for train operators. Albrecht Neumann, CEO Rolling Stock at Siemens Mobility, emphasized the importance of delivering carbon-neutral mobility through this collaboration. Thomas Zorn, Managing Director of Tyczka Hydrogen, highlighted green hydrogen fuel as a key solution for decarbonizing heavy-duty transport operations, noting its efficiency in terms of refueling times and driving ranges for multiple-unit trains. The partnership aims to simplify the implementation of fossil-free railway mobility by offering alternative concepts and infrastructure solutions.
