Solaris Bus & Coach is set to deliver a total of 26 Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen buses to REVG Kerpen, a public transport operator based in Kerpen, Germany. The manufacturer has already delivered the first two units, heralding the introduction of Solaris buses in the city. The remaining buses are expected to be delivered by 2025. This collaboration between Solaris and REVG Kerpen marks a significant moment in the transport sector's evolution towards sustainability. Christian Goll, managing director of Solaris Deutschland, expressed honor in bringing state-of-the-art hydrogen-powered buses to Kerpen, highlighting REVG Kerpen's dedication to pioneering sustainable transport solutions. The buses will be equipped with 70-kW hydrogen fuel cells, central electric motors, and Solaris High Power batteries to support fuel cell operation during peak demand. Solaris holds a prominent position as the largest hydrogen bus manufacturer in Europe, commanding 44.5% of the market share in 2023. The German market shows active investment in hydrogen-powered buses, with Solaris Urbino hydrogen buses already in operation in various cities like Cologne, Wuppertal, and Frankfurt. Additionally, contracts are underway for cities including Krefeld, Hamburg, and Duisburg, emphasizing the growing trend towards sustainable urban transportation and renewable energy sources.
