Taiwan's Leading Role in Hydrogen Development Shines at International Exhibition in Paris
Key Ideas
  • Taiwan's Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Partnership signed MOUs with four countries during Hyvolution 2025 in Paris, aiming to advance the industry and promote R&D across the supply chain.
  • The agreements will facilitate international projects, foster expertise exchanges, and showcase Taiwan's advanced technologies in hydrogen fuel cells.
  • Taiwan boasts comprehensive resources for hydrogen development, with over 90% of crucial components made locally, allowing quick absorption and manufacturing of technologies.
  • To address energy challenges due to its small land area and high population density, Taiwan is exploring investments in overseas hydrogen factories to import resources.
At the international exhibition Hyvolution 2025 in Paris, the Taiwan Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Partnership (THFCP) signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with four countries – Ukraine, France, Poland, and Denmark – to advance the hydrogen and fuel cell industry. Lin Jo-chen, CEO of THFCP, highlighted Taiwan's expertise in hydrogen fuel cells and its ability to absorb and manufacture various technologies locally. Taiwan's participation in the exhibition showcased its advanced technologies in hydrogen purification, energy electrolysis, power-to-gas system integration, and energy management solutions. The country is in talks with nations like Chile and Australia to invest in overseas hydrogen factories to overcome energy challenges caused by its limited land area and high population density. With over 90% of crucial components for hydrogen development made in Taiwan, the country is positioning itself as a leader in hydrogen technology. The agreements signed aim to not only advance R&D but also foster international collaborations and expertise exchanges in the hydrogen and fuel cell sector.
