Veer, a Bahamas-based company, has announced its partnership with Germany's Fosen Shipyard to construct its first two wind-powered and hydrogen-assisted container vessels. The collaboration aims to introduce clean container services starting from 2027. Carsten Stellamanns, CEO of Fosen Shipyard, expressed delight in this venture, emphasizing the development of the first zero-emissions container carrier in Germany. Additionally, Veer has teamed up with Bernhard Schulte Ship Management for technical management and FutureShips ship brokerage for operational support. The 100-meter-long ship design incorporates an innovative hull shape, DynaRig sails, and hydrogen fuel cells, highlighting Veer's commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. To fund this eco-friendly initiative, Veer has secured a €50 million letter of intent from Prow Capital in Amsterdam. The company is actively engaging with various charterers to kickstart clean liner services in 2027, demonstrating its dedication to revolutionizing the maritime industry with innovative and green solutions.
