By leveraging Westport's high pressure direct injection (HPDI) fuel system, the venture aims to facilitate the use of carbon-neutral or zero-carbon fuels like biogas and hydrogen, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions significantly. While many regulations are pushing for the adoption of battery electric vehicles, Volvo and Westport are emphasizing the importance of utilizing internal combustion engines with sustainable fuel sources to achieve decarbonization in certain industries.
