ZM Trucks, a commercial zero-emissions truck manufacturer, has revealed plans to open its first North America manufacturing plant in Fontana, California. This facility, constructed in 2023, will support the production of zero-emission electric commercial trucks, terminal tractors, and airport ground service equipment for parent company ZO Motors. With a size exceeding 210,000 square feet, the plant is anticipated to employ approximately 200 workers and commence production in the first half of the year, targeting an output of 35,000 to 40,000 vehicles annually. Moreover, the Fontana site will serve as the regional headquarters for ZO Motors in North America, relocating from Torrance, California. Positioned strategically on 9.67 acres near crucial transportation infrastructures like highways, airports, ports, and railways, the facility's location enhances logistical efficiency and accessibility. ZO Motors, known for its focus on sustainable transport solutions, aims to leverage the Fontana plant to advance its clean energy initiatives, including the development of electric battery and hydrogen fuel cell-powered commercial vehicles. The company's recent distribution partnership with ITD Industries signifies a step towards expanding its market presence, particularly in Canada, as a key supplier of eco-friendly vehicle products.
