ZM Trucks, a commercial zero-emissions truck manufacturer, has revealed plans to establish its inaugural North America manufacturing plant in Fontana, California. The new factory, scheduled for completion in 2023, will focus on producing zero-emission electric commercial trucks, terminal tractors, and airport ground service equipment under the parent company ZO Motors. Spanning an impressive 210,000 square feet, the facility is expected to employ around 200 workers once fully operational. Production is set to kick off in the first half of the year with an annual capacity of 35,000 to 40,000 vehicles. The strategic location of the plant near prominent transportation arteries like airports, ports, and railways enhances logistical efficiency. This expansion also positions the Fontana site as the North America regional headquarters for ZO Motors, supplementing its existing base in Torrance, California. The move underscores ZO Motors' dedication to advancing sustainable transportation solutions, with a focus on electric battery and hydrogen fuel cell-powered commercial vehicles. The company's recent distribution agreement with ITD Industries in Canada further solidifies its position as a key player in the zero-emission vehicle market. CEO Joost de Vries emphasized the company's commitment to sustainability and delivering long-term value to customers through zero-emission solutions. Additionally, ZM Trucks is extending its footprint globally, with plans underway for another manufacturing facility in Pursat, Cambodia.
