Panasonic Corporation has announced the successful installation and trial operation of a demonstration power generation system at Panasonic Manufacturing UK Ltd. (PMUK) in Cardiff, Wales, UK. This system, designed to power the microwave oven assembly factory, integrates pure hydrogen fuel cell generators, photovoltaic generators, and storage batteries to ensure a 100% renewable energy supply. By using green hydrogen and an energy management system (EMS), PMUK plans to efficiently generate and store electricity on-site, optimizing its operations to match electricity demand and weather changes in the UK. The innovative approach also includes utilizing heat generated by the fuel cell generators for heating and hot water, achieving an impressive energy efficiency of 95% through cogeneration. Additionally, Panasonic aims to leverage this project to enhance its energy management expertise, build partnerships in the hydrogen sector, and contribute to sustainability and climate change mitigation in the UK.
