A recent survey conducted in the UK by the Energy and Utilities Alliance revealed interesting insights into public preferences for home heating. While over two-thirds of respondents expressed support for the goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, only 10% showed interest in using heat pumps. The majority favor continuing the use of gas, with 51% backing the idea of blending natural gas with hydrogen to lower carbon emissions. Additionally, 66% of participants supported a plan to ensure all boilers can convert to zero-carbon gas by 2030. Mike Foster, CEO of the EUA, emphasized the importance of aligning energy transition strategies with public opinion to drive the shift towards net-zero effectively.
