Panasonic has launched a groundbreaking project at its microwave assembly factory in Cardiff, Wales, powered by renewable energy sources. By combining hydrogen fuel cell generators, photovoltaic generators, and storage batteries, the factory aims to operate solely on renewable energy. 21 units of 5 kW hydrogen fuel cell generators have been installed to cater to the factory's electricity needs, along with 372 kW photovoltaic generators and 1MWh storage batteries. These components will work together to ensure a seamless energy supply, with plans to implement an energy management system by March 2025. The hydrogen fuel cell generators will not only produce electricity but also utilize the generated heat to provide heating and hot water, showcasing a high energy efficiency of 95%. This initiative demonstrates Panasonic's pioneering efforts in sustainable energy solutions while setting an example for other regions. The company envisions a future where the factory in Cardiff operates on 100% renewable energy, contributing to a greener and more environmentally friendly manufacturing process.
