  • The Feedstock Testing Unit (FTU) in Bridgend is designed to convert 2.5 tonnes of waste per day into Syngas, with a goal of generating 250 kW of electrical power.
Powerhouse Energy Group Plc, a leader in converting non-recyclable waste into low-carbon energy, announced the successful delivery and installation of a Thermal Conversion Chamber (TCC) kiln at their Bridgend Technical Centre. The kiln, supplied by AGICO Group of China, serves as a centerpiece for the Feedstock Testing Unit (FTU), enabling the installation of ancillary equipment. Engsolve will handle the installation, while the R&D team will manage commissioning. The FTU aims to convert 2.5 tonnes of waste daily into Syngas, with plans to produce 200 kg of hydrogen once the separation process is operational. The company plans to use the FTU for R&D and demonstrations initially, before exploring commercial opportunities. The CEO, Paul Emmitt, highlighted the significance of this milestone in moving forward with their patented technology, emphasizing progress in R&D activities and the potential for future commercialization. The installation and commissioning of the kiln are expected to be completed by the end of the year.
