US DOE Invests $62m in Clean Hydrogen Technologies Across 15 States
Key Ideas
- DOE allocates $62m to 20 projects in 15 states to advance clean hydrogen technologies.
- Projects include hydrogen fuelling infrastructure, hydrogen-powered port equipment, and safe deployment processes.
- Investments support the US National Clean Hydrogen Strategy and work alongside Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs.
- DOE's Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Office oversees projects in areas like vehicle fuelling, refuelling stations, and community engagement.
The US Department of Energy (DOE) has committed nearly $62 million to fund 20 projects across 15 states focused on advancing clean hydrogen technologies. These projects aim to drive research, development, and deployment in various areas such as hydrogen fuelling infrastructure, hydrogen-powered equipment at ports, and enhancing processes for safe hydrogen technology deployment. The investments are aligned with the US National Clean Hydrogen Strategy and Roadmap and complement initiatives like Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs and tax incentives. The DOE's Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Office will oversee the projects, which cover aspects like components for hydrogen fuelling of vehicles, standardised hydrogen refuelling stations, hydrogen fuel cell-powered port equipment, permitting and safety for hydrogen deployment, and community engagement for equitable hydrogen technology adoption. While the selection for award negotiations does not guarantee funding, ongoing discussions aim to further support the development and deployment of clean hydrogen technologies across the United States.
