The event brought together leading automakers, shipping companies, and e-mobility experts for a significant long-distance test journey from Essen to Hanover. Participants included renowned companies like Daimler Truck, DB Schenker, DHL, Hyundai, MAN, and Renault. The demonstration kicked off at E.ON's Drive TestingLab in Essen, where innovative electromobility charging solutions are developed. Throughout the 300-kilometer trip, the trucks successfully navigated various road conditions, emphasizing their capability for long journeys. Planned charging breaks were included to showcase the importance of charging infrastructure in supporting these vehicles. The eTruckathon concluded at the Hanover IAA exposition grounds. Marc Spieker, E.ON's COO, highlighted the event's significance in providing practical insights into eco-friendly heavy goods transport.
