Hyosung Hydrogen Completes First Large-Capacity Liquefied Hydrogen Charging Station in Gwangyang
Key Ideas
  • Hyosung Hydrogen completed the first large-capacity liquefied hydrogen charging station in Gwangyang, Jeollanam-do, with a capacity of 200Kg/h.
  • The station is part of the effort to support the increasing supply of hydrogen buses in the region, aiding in the infrastructure development for hydrogen vehicles.
  • Liquid hydrogen offers advantages such as ease of storage, transportation, and faster filling compared to gaseous hydrogen, making it a viable option for high-capacity hydrogen vehicles.
  • Hyosung Hydrogen plans to build 20 more liquefied hydrogen charging stations in alignment with the government's goal to supply 300,000 hydrogen cars by 2030.
Hyosung Hydrogen, a subsidiary of Hyosung Heavy Industries, has marked a significant milestone by completing its first large-capacity liquefied hydrogen charging station in Gwangyang, Jeollanam-do, South Korea. This station, named 'Gwangyang Chonam Liquefied Hydrogen Charging Station,' has a capacity of 200Kg/h and is anticipated to play a crucial role in supporting the increasing supply of hydrogen buses in the region. The station, constructed as part of the 2022 hydrogen charging station public offering project by the Ministry of Environment, is set to facilitate the infrastructure required for hydrogen vehicles. Liquid hydrogen, which is formed by cooling gaseous hydrogen to minus 253 degrees Celsius, offers benefits such as easy storage, transport, and faster filling times compared to gaseous hydrogen. Hyosung Hydrogen's strategic plans include the construction of a total of 20 more liquefied hydrogen charging stations to contribute to the government's target of supplying 300,000 hydrogen cars by 2030. The company aims to leverage its expertise and partnerships in the hydrogen sector to expand its presence and provide sustainable energy solutions for various mobility fields. Furthermore, Hyosung Heavy Industries is actively engaging in a total solution business for hydrogen charging stations, including the supply of construction materials and assembly services. With a market share of 20% in the domestic hydrogen charging system market, Hyosung is committed to driving the adoption of hydrogen fuel technology and supporting the transition to a greener transportation landscape.
