A pioneering hydrogen refuelling station for vehicles at Teesside Airport has moved a step closer as plans were submitted. The station is part of the Tees Valley hydrogen transport hub, funded by the UK Government, consisting of four stations to cater to various hydrogen-fuelled vehicles. Element 2, a hydrogen refuelling company, is driving the project, supported by government funding for necessary infrastructure. Teesside Airport has been actively promoting sustainable practices and aims to achieve operational net zero by 2030. The initiative also includes the development and adoption of sustainable aviation fuel. Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen praised the progress, highlighting the region's commitment to cleaner industries. Innovate UK's involvement signifies broader support for the initiative. Element 2 CEO Tim Harper expressed excitement about establishing a national network of high-quality hydrogen refuelling stations. The collaboration aims to reduce transport emissions in the Tees Valley region, emphasizing the importance of clean energy solutions.
