Tata Motors made a groundbreaking move by launching the first heavy-duty hydrogen-powered trucks in India, signaling a shift towards sustainable long-distance transportation. These trucks, powered by Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engines (H2-ICE) and Fuel Cells (H2-FCEV), are being tested on key freight routes like Mumbai, Pune, and Delhi-NCR. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari highlighted the immense potential of hydrogen as the fuel of the future to reduce emissions and enhance energy self-reliance. Tata Motors' Executive Director, Girish Wagh, emphasized the company's commitment to green, smarter, and sustainable mobility, praising the government's support in enabling this transition. The trucks can cover distances of 300-500 km on a single run, ensuring eco-friendly, high-performance, and cost-effective transport. This initiative represents a significant step towards achieving a greener and more efficient long-haul transportation sector in India.
