Airbus and Airports Council International (ACI) World have announced a strategic cooperation agreement to support the aviation industry in reducing its environmental impact. The alliance will concentrate on critical areas such as sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), hydrogen technologies, advanced air mobility, operations efficiency, and aircraft noise management practices. This partnership aims to foster information exchange, develop guidance materials, and potentially create unified positions on policies and standards to meet industry targets for sustainability and innovation. Airbus' Chief Sustainability Officer, Julie Kitcher, underlines the importance of this collaboration in driving environmental sustainability and fostering industry-wide innovation. ACI World's Director General and CEO, Luis Felipe de Oliveira, emphasizes the commitment to achieving a net-zero carbon aviation industry and maximizing the socio-economic benefits of air travel. The partnership builds on the successful relationship between Airbus and ACI Europe, focusing on deploying alternative energies like hydrogen and SAF, sharing technical data with European airports, and communicating progress at industry events. With ACI serving 814 members operating 2,110 airports in 169 countries, this collaboration is set to pave the way for a greener future in the global aviation sector.
