Airbus and Avolon have teamed up for the first time as part of the ZEROe Project to delve into the financing and commercialization prospects of hydrogen-powered aircraft. This collaboration, announced at the Farnborough Airshow, intends to explore how future aircraft running on hydrogen could be funded and introduced into the market with the support of a leasing business model. Avolon expressed its commitment to sustainability by joining the ZEROe Project, highlighting the importance of collective efforts in overcoming the challenges of hydrogen-powered commercial flight. Airbus is dedicated to advancing the industry towards near-zero emissions and is actively involved in creating a hydrogen ecosystem with the involvement of various stakeholders. The Airbus ZEROe team is working closely with over 10 airlines to study the potential deployment of hydrogen-powered aircraft, emphasizing the need for industry-wide collaboration for successful decarbonization. Additionally, Airbus has initiated the "Hydrogen Hub at Airports" program to boost hydrogen infrastructure in aviation, with 18 such hubs already established. The collaboration between Airbus and Avolon signifies a significant step forward in the exploration of sustainable aviation solutions and marks a key milestone in the journey towards a greener aviation industry.
