Dovetail Electric Aviation has announced its collaboration with Siemens by choosing the Xcelerator software portfolio for designing innovative battery and hydrogen-electric aircraft propulsion systems. This partnership involves teams in Spain and Australia working together through a cloud-enabled CAD platform to create digital twins of the propulsion systems, enhance accessibility worldwide, and boost collaboration among design teams. According to David Doral, the CEO of Dovetail Electric Aviation, the software investment aims to optimize the principles of circular economy by retrofitting propulsion systems into legacy aircraft used by regional airlines, leisure, and cargo flights. Dovetail stands out as the sole company globally planning to convert Cessna 208 Caravans into battery-electric options and leading the development of a hydrogen-electric retrofit for the Beechcraft King Air. Siemens' Xcelerator software is expected to streamline the editing and viewing of complex design models, accelerate product development, and improve design process management. Samantha Murray, the managing director of Siemens digital industries software in Australia and New Zealand, highlighted the software's track record of enabling companies to exceed boundaries and operate on a global scale.
