The DLR_Startup Factory recently organized a tour in Cologne to educate potential entrepreneurs on the support provided by the German Aerospace Center (DLR) for start-ups. State Secretary Silke Krebs from North Rhine-Westphalia's Ministry of Economic Affairs highlighted the funding and networks available for founders in the region. During the visit to the Institute of Propulsion Technology, the focus was on addressing challenges in hydrogen propulsion. Prof. Florian Herbst showcased collaborations with industry partners to develop hydrogen propulsion systems and H2-powered gas turbines, such as the Rolls-Royce Germany Innovation Award-winning endoscopic measurement technology. This technology offers valuable optical data on combustion processes, aiding partners in testing and innovation. Moreover, strategies were presented for aviation hydrogen pumps and solutions for transporting cryogenic hydrogen. The initiative emphasizes research collaboration and innovative solutions for energy supply.
