VINCI Airports has successfully completed major modernisation and expansion works at Kansai International Airport (KIX) in preparation for the Osaka 2025 Expo. These works have notably increased Terminal 1's capacity to accommodate 40 million passengers annually. The upgrades at KIX aim to enhance operational efficiency, reduce passenger wait times, and elevate the overall passenger experience. Noteworthy features include Japan's largest walkthrough duty-free area and a 1,000-seat premium lounge, offering passengers a luxurious travel environment. In line with sustainability goals, Kansai International Airport has implemented various green initiatives, such as the expansion of solar power usage, the introduction of electric vehicles, and a strong emphasis on sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). Furthermore, KIX is pioneering Japan's first hydrogen-powered aircraft project in collaboration with Airbus, marking a significant advancement towards sustainable aviation solutions.
