Swedish hybrid-electric aircraft developer Heart Aerospace has partnered with Scottish airline Loganair to assess the feasibility of using the ES-30 aircraft in the UK domestic market, particularly for short-haul services in Scotland. Loganair's existing fleet and route network in the Highlands and Islands make it a promising candidate for integrating low-emissions aircraft like the ES-30. The ES-30, still in development, is projected to carry 25-30 passengers over distances of 400-800 kilometers and can cover up to 200 kilometers in fully electric mode, potentially suitable for many of Loganair's routes. The partnership includes discussions with UK and Scottish governments to advance electric propulsion in aviation. Loganair joins Heart Aerospace's Industry Advisory Board, focusing on decarbonizing air travel. Loganair, actively engaged in the UK's green aviation initiatives, is also exploring hydrogen-powered aircraft, such as the Britten-Norman Islander, to be developed by Cranfield Aerospace Solutions. The airline's interest in sustainable aviation solutions aligns with its commitment to environmental responsibility.
