NEXTCHEM (Maire) to Build SAF Plant in Nebraska with DG Fuels
Key Ideas
- NEXTCHEM (Maire) has been awarded an early engineering, licensing, and PDP contract by DG Fuels for a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) plant in Nebraska, USA.
- The plant, operational by 2029, will produce 450 million liters of SAF annually from residual biomass, contributing to the US SAF mandate.
- The project aligns with the U.S. Department of Energy's Clean Fuels & Products Shot initiative and the CORSIA to reduce aviation emissions.
- NEXTCHEM's commitment to decarbonization and circular solutions in North America is highlighted through this significant SAF initiative.
NEXTCHEM (MAIRE), through its subsidiary MyRechemical, has secured a contract from DG Fuels LCC to establish a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) plant in Nebraska, USA. This project, utilizing NEXTCHEM's NX CircularTM gasification technology, marks their second collaboration with DG Fuels following a successful project in Louisiana. The SAF plant is scheduled to commence operations in 2029, producing an impressive 450 million liters of SAF annually from residual biomass. This production capacity, combined with their existing plant in Louisiana, is estimated to meet approximately 8% of the US SAF mandate by 2030. The initiative aligns with the U.S. Department of Energy's Clean Fuels & Products Shot program, focused on decarbonizing the aviation sector through industrialized SAF production. Additionally, the project adheres to the CORSIA guidelines established by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to reduce carbon offsetting for airlines. Fabio Fritelli, NEXTCHEM MD, emphasized the strategic significance of these projects in advancing circular solutions for decarbonization, showcasing NEXTCHEM's leadership in the North American sustainable aviation market. The Biden administration's push for increased SAF supply further underscores the importance and timeliness of such initiatives in the renewable energy sector.
