Paris Le Bourget Airport Becoming a Hub for Advanced Air Mobility Maintenance
Key Ideas
  • Embraer, Eve Air Mobility, and Groupe ADP are collaborating to create maintenance capabilities for advanced air mobility (AAM) and sustainable aircraft concepts at Paris Le Bourget Airport.
  • The focus is on supporting electric vertical take-off-and-landing (eVTOL) aircraft and exploring sustainable aircraft concepts like hybrid-electric and hydrogen-electric powered aircraft.
  • Eve and Groupe ADP are preparing the airport for eVTOL operations, while the airport operator is studying hydrogen infrastructure to support future aircraft operations.
  • The collaboration aims to address sustainability in all aspects of urban air mobility including service and support facilities, vertiports, and operational logistics.
Embraer, its subsidiary Eve Air Mobility, and Groupe ADP have signed a memorandum of understanding to transform Paris Le Bourget Airport into a maintenance hub for advanced air mobility platforms. The cooperation will involve creating maintenance capabilities for electric vertical take-off-and-landing (eVTOL) aircraft and exploring sustainable aircraft concepts such as hybrid-electric and hydrogen-electric powered aircraft. Embraer Services & Support plans to expand its Paris operations by moving to a new maintenance building at the airport to accommodate the increased capacity. Eve will collaborate with Groupe ADP to prepare the airport for eVTOL operations, including training, maintenance, and ground handling services. Groupe ADP is also looking into hydrogen infrastructure to support future aircraft operations. The partnership aims to address sustainability comprehensively in urban air mobility, with a focus on service and support facilities, vertiports, and operational logistics. Additionally, other eVTOL developers like Volocopter and AutoFlight are eyeing Paris as a key location, with plans to operate air taxis during the 2024 summer Olympic Games. Eve has existing partnerships with vertiport and infrastructure specialists and is studying supply chain best practices with DHL.
