Avolon, a global aviation finance company, and Air New Zealand have joined forces to advance the commercialization of electric aircraft and novel propulsion technologies. This collaboration includes a memorandum of understanding to support research on electric aircraft, battery hybrid, and hydrogen propulsion, along with a letter of intent for the sale and leaseback of a BETA Alia CX300 electric cargo aircraft. The Alia CX300, designed by BETA Technologies, will transport cargo between Wellington and Blenheim in partnership with New Zealand Post.
