Aviation, a major challenge in decarbonization, has witnessed a transformative development with Universal Hydrogen's unveiling of a new hybrid-electric regional aircraft propulsion system powered by a 1 MW hydrogen fuel cell. The system, employing a ProtonExchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell from Ballard and electric motors from magniX, aims to enable zero-carbon regional air travel within five years. By utilizing green hydrogen as the fuel source, the propulsion system emits only water vapor and warm air, revolutionizing the environmental impact of air travel.
