Highlighting the role of Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) Energy in spearheading the hydrogen revolution, Premier Abang Johari emphasized the commitment to innovative solutions that not only boost the state’s economy but also preserve the environment for future generations. The focus lies on establishing a network of Flagship Multi-fuel Stations (MPS) that prioritize hydrogen refueling to support hydrogen vehicles and promote sustainable transportation methods. Additionally, the Sarawak government sees hydrogen as a versatile feedstock with potential applications in industries like Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), aiming to reduce the carbon footprint of air travel by integrating hydrogen with renewable resources like algae oil. Embracing hydrogen is viewed as a pivotal step towards a more sustainable and prosperous Sarawak, offering avenues for economic growth, job opportunities, and environmental conservation.
