ZeroAvia, a pioneering company in zero-emission aviation, is establishing a research and development facility in Stockton to focus on liquid hydrogen refueling for aviation and heavy-duty applications. The Stockton Metropolitan Airport announced that ZeroAvia will be moving in soon to design, build, and test rapid liquid hydrogen refueling vehicles. The airport director, Richard Sokol, expressed optimism about ZeroAvia's presence at the airport, emphasizing the importance of supporting companies that are advancing green energy initiatives in aviation. The San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors approved ZeroAvia's lease for office space and a ground lease for a new hangar to further their research and development efforts. ZeroAvia's CEO, Val Miftakhov, pointed out the critical role of liquid hydrogen systems in scaling hydrogen-electric engines for larger aircraft and achieving a sustainable future of flight. The company has already made strides with testbed aircraft retrofitted with hydrogen and electric powertrains, including reaching a significant milestone with a Federal Aviation Administration-approved 600-kilowatt electric propulsion system. ZeroAvia's presence in Stockton signifies a step forward in the innovation of sustainable transportation in the aviation sector.
