ZeroAvia, a leader in hydrogen-electric aviation technology, has reached a significant milestone with the receipt of a G-1 Issue Paper from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for their 600kW hydrogen-electric propulsion system. This development establishes the certification basis and sets the path for full approval and commercialization. By defining airworthiness regulations, the Issue Paper supports ZeroAvia's certification efforts in collaboration with the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). CEO Val Miftakhov expressed the importance of this achievement, highlighting the potential market expansion and positive impact on the aviation industry's shift towards sustainable flight. The 600kW system is part of ZeroAvia's ZA600 hydrogen-electric powertrain designed for 20-seat commercial aircraft. Successful testing of the ZA600 engine on a Dornier 228 aircraft in 2023 further validated the technology's capabilities. Notably, American Airlines has shown confidence in ZeroAvia's innovation by placing a conditional purchase agreement for 100 engines, following an initial investment in the company in 2022.
