Mitsui OSK Lines has reached a milestone in the development of the Wind Hunter project, aiming to harness wind power for producing hydrogen fuel on sailing ships. The Winz Maru, a demonstration yacht owned by the Japanese shipowners, successfully demonstrated the conversion of wind energy into green hydrogen. The produced hydrogen was then delivered to Tokyo Bay to support power projects on land, as announced by MOL chief executive Takeshi Hashimoto. This initiative represents a pioneering approach to utilizing sustainable energy sources for maritime operations and on-land applications. By highlighting the potential of wind-powered vessels to generate clean energy such as green hydrogen, Mitsui OSK Lines is contributing to the advancement of green technology and environmental sustainability within the maritime sector.
