Trafigura Group Pte Ltd has successfully completed its first ship-to-ship (STS) transfer of ammonia in international waters close to the port of Ceuta in the Strait of Gibraltar. This milestone operation involved the transfer of 6,000 metric tonnes of ammonia from the Green Power Medium Gas Carrier to the Gas Aegean for delivery to Fertiberia for fertilizer production. The successful STS operation, conducted by International Fender Provider, marks a significant step in the ammonia industry's adoption of such transfers. Trafigura's Head of Wet Freight highlighted the importance of this transfer in supporting their growing ammonia trading activity and its implications for future ammonia bunkering to enable the shipping industry's decarbonization.
