Abu Dhabi's Integrated Transport Centre has launched a cutting-edge Green Bus service powered by clean hydrogen and electric energy, marking a significant step towards sustainability. The Green Bus Programme aims to convert Abu Dhabi Island into a public transport green zone by 2030, with a focus on hydrogen and electric power solutions. International collaborations and technical evaluations have been conducted to ensure the efficiency of these buses in the local climate. The programme includes training programs for residents and bus operators, aiming to reduce over 100,000 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually. By transitioning to renewable energy, the public bus fleet in Abu Dhabi will significantly reduce its carbon footprint, contributing to the Emirate's commitment to the Paris Agreement and its vision of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
