At the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit in Guwahati, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, emphasized Assam's pivotal role in India's energy sector. With the state currently contributing 15% of the nation's crude oil and 14% of its natural gas, Assam's energy production is on a steady rise. Minister Puri also highlighted the potential of green hydrogen, illustrating how a decrease in its cost could lead to a significant shift towards sustainable transportation in India. He mentioned the prospect of hydrogen-powered buses emitting only water vapor, a game-changer for environmental-friendly mobility. Furthermore, the minister noted the increasing momentum in India's Exploration and Production sector, with key players like British Petroleum showing interest. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's proactive measures to boost the state's energy sector were commended, with assurance from the central government of full support towards enhancing Assam's energy capabilities.
