Atawey, a leading player in hydrogen technology, is set to open its first hydrogen station outside France in Italy. The company has secured a contract from Techfem, a prominent player in the Italian energy sector, to establish a hydrogen refuelling station by mid-2025. This initiative marks a significant milestone in Atawey's goal to be among the top 3 European manufacturers of hydrogen refuelling stations by 2025. The project in Italy involves producing renewable hydrogen on-site through an electrolyser powered by photovoltaic panels. The generated hydrogen will be utilized to power buses through an upgradable Atawey station and injected into the local gas network. CEO Jean-Michel Amaré views this venture as a crucial step in the company's international expansion, emphasizing the growth potential for Atawey and its contribution to energy transition in Europe. Additionally, Atawey plans to establish an Italian subsidiary by the end of 2024, further solidifying its presence in the Italian market. Italy's energy strategy is placing a strong emphasis on hydrogen, with plans to deploy 70 stations following the AFIR directive.
