The meeting highlighted the potential for sister city collaboration between Chandigarh and Czech cities, focusing on environmental initiatives, waste management, eco-friendly public transportation, educational collaborations, and cultural exchanges. Dr. Zigova advocated for sustainable urban transportation solutions, proposing a tram system as an alternative to a metro system in Chandigarh, emphasizing the importance of mobility while preserving the city's heritage. She also introduced the concept of hydrogen buses for inter-city connectivity to reduce carbon emissions. The Governor expressed interest in these proposals, promising to explore the viability of trams and metros and the introduction of hydrogen buses in Chandigarh. Educational collaboration was also a key point of discussion, with plans for a student exchange program and cultural exchange events to foster mutual understanding and appreciation. The potential sister city partnership aims to enhance cooperation in various sectors like trade, tourism, education, and cultural exchanges. A visit by a Czech delegation in March 2025 is scheduled to further solidify the commitment to sustainable urban development and cultural exchange between Chandigarh and the Czech Republic.
