The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has entered into an agreement with Swaidan Trading Company to trial an eco-friendly hydrogen bus on the city's urban roads. The aim is to evaluate the bus's performance under Dubai's climatic conditions, with a focus on its potential as a sustainable transportation option. The hydrogen fuel for these buses will be produced and supplied in coordination with ENOC and other partners, allowing for a comprehensive testing of the fuel's viability. RTA's CEO highlighted the benefits of hydrogen, emphasizing its lightweight nature and high energy density compared to diesel fuel, along with its eco-friendly characteristics. The bus is equipped with a fuel cell system from Zhongtong Bus Holding Co. Ltd., a Chinese company. The agreement includes plans to gather feedback from drivers and passengers to improve the bus service in Dubai continuously. This initiative showcases Dubai's commitment to innovation and sustainability in the public transport sector, setting a positive example for future transportation developments in the city.
