Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu virtually performed the foundation stone laying of the Pilot Project of the green hydrogen mobility station in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh, costing around Rs 14 crore. This initiative marks the beginning of a green hydrogen project in the region, aiming to establish Chamba as the first district in Himachal Pradesh to pioneer in green hydrogen technology. The project, led by the state government and constructed by the National Hydel Power Corporation (NHPC), is set to be completed by August 2025. It includes a grid-connected solar power plant that will produce green hydrogen to fuel a green hydrogen bus, promoting awareness and adoption of green energy in the area.
The Chief Minister emphasized that this groundbreaking project will introduce green hydrogen buses to the region, creating awareness and promoting the use of green energy. The NHPC has already initiated the tender process to procure a green hydrogen bus for Chamba, ensuring its availability once the project is operational. This green initiative is expected to boost revenue, generate employment opportunities, and contribute to the economic development of the region.
Apart from the green hydrogen project, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones for various other developmental projects, including a Mini Secretariat Building, an indoor stadium, a Parking-cum-Commercial Complex, a Multipurpose Hall and library at the District Institute of Educational Training, a Trauma Care Centre, an Electricity Sub Station, a PG Block at Government Degree College, a Primary Health Centre, a new bus stand, and more. These projects aim to enhance infrastructural development, create job opportunities, and improve the overall quality of life in Chamba district.
