NFI Group Inc., a leading bus manufacturer, has received a landmark order from San Mateo County Transit (SamTrans) for 108 zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell-electric Xcelsior CHARGE FC™ 40-foot transit buses, marking the largest single fuel cell bus order in the company's history. The partnership between NFI and SamTrans, spanning nearly 35 years, has seen the delivery of over 175 buses, including 27 zero-emission vehicles. The investment in these fuel cell-electric buses aligns with SamTrans' goal of transitioning to a zero-emission fleet to meet California's sustainability targets. The purchase is supported by funding from the Federal Transit Administration, California’s incentive programs, and local funds. By replacing diesel buses, the hydrogen buses will contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving air quality in the community, supporting California's ambitious clean transit regulations.
