Hyundai Motor has announced a significant partnership with Chungcheongnam-do Province in South Korea to enhance hydrogen transportation by converting diesel buses to hydrogen buses. This collaboration is part of a broader initiative to achieve carbon neutrality in the transportation sector. The agreement, signed in Cheonan City Hall, involves replacing 1,200 diesel buses with hydrogen buses by 2030. Hyundai will introduce its Electric City and Universe hydrogen electric buses in Chungnam, catering to various transport needs such as off-city, commuting, and intercity routes. The Universe Hydrogen Electric Bus boasts a remarkable range of up to 635 kilometers on a single charge, making it suitable for long-distance travel. In addition to deploying hydrogen buses, Chungcheongnam-do aims to expand hydrogen charging infrastructure by establishing 67 hydrogen charging stations in the province by 2030. Hyundai will support this effort by setting up six hydrogen commercial vehicle maintenance service bases in the Chungcheong area. The collaboration is anticipated to play a key role in promoting hydrogen transportation in South Chungcheong Province and advancing carbon neutrality in the transportation sector, aligning with the province's eco-friendly goals.
