The Indian Army has initiated a partnership with the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) to conduct demonstration trials of Hydrogen Fuel Cell Bus technology. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed in the presence of key officials aiming to promote innovation and sustainable transport solutions. Indian Oil presented a Hydrogen Fuel Cell Bus with impressive mileage and zero emissions, showcasing the potential of hydrogen fuel cell technology. In addition to the focus on hydrogen, the Indian Army has shown a commitment to environmental responsibility by introducing electric vehicles at 'Peace Stations' across India. Plans include the procurement of over 110 electric vehicles, including buses, cars, and motorcycles, to reduce dependency on fossil fuels and embrace green energy. Furthermore, the Indian Army has signed another MoU with NTPCREL to install Green Hydrogen-based Microgrid Power Plants along the Northern Borders, providing clean electricity to troops in challenging terrains. These initiatives demonstrate a positive shift towards sustainability and technological advancements within the Indian Army.
