The International Bus & Coach of the Year Jury recently resumed its testing activities in the Czech Republic after a break in 2023. The event, held near Prague at the Kladno depot of Arriva’s CSAD MHD Kladno subsidiary, featured five competitors vying for the International Bus of the Year 2025 award. The competition included models like the Mercedes-Benz eCitaro Fuel Cell and the Solaris Urbino 18 Hydrogen, showcasing the latest in zero-emission bus technology. The jury, composed of respected transport professionals, rigorously tested each bus's performance, including braking and acceleration tests, passenger experience evaluations, and driver assessments on a predetermined route. Despite facing challenges like torrential rain during the tests, the event highlighted the innovative features of these buses, such as advanced drivelines, safety technologies, and sustainability elements like fuel cell integration and heat recovery systems. The atmosphere during the event, sponsored by Busworld and ZF, was convivial, with evening dinners celebrating the best of the industry. Overall, the event emphasized the industry's commitment to advancing zero-emission bus technology and promoting sustainable transport solutions.
