Sushil Kumar Singh, Chairman of Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) in Kandla, Gujarat, announced plans to commence green hydrogen production by the end of August this year. The port is actively developing an ecosystem for green hydrogen, green ammonia, and methanol, in line with the National Green Hydrogen Mission. Major industry partners have been allocated space to establish giga-scale plants, with a 1-megawatt demonstration plant for green hydrogen in the pipeline. Collaborating with L&T, the port is progressing rapidly towards its green hydrogen production goal and has signed an MoU with NTPC for the introduction of hydrogen-powered buses, contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, Kandla Port aims to become a methanol bunker point for the Rotterdam-Singapore corridor, positioning itself as a key player in green shipping corridors globally.
