Foton Mobility Distribution is gearing up to establish a cutting-edge electric bus manufacturing facility in Nowra, Australia. The company has secured a contract with the NSW government to deliver 126 battery electric buses that will be manufactured in Nowra and deployed across Greater Sydney. The new facility, spanning 6000 square feet, will not only focus on producing electric buses but will also delve into manufacturing hydrogen fuel cell engines and electric trucks. This initiative is expected to generate approximately 100 quality manufacturing jobs for the local workforce, showcasing a positive step towards sustainable and eco-friendly transportation solutions. Transport Minister Jo Haylen expressed the government's commitment to local manufacturing, emphasizing the creation of opportunities for regional suppliers and manufacturers to contribute to the production of Zero Emissions Buses. The project aligns with the government's Zero Emission Buses (ZEB) program, which includes plans to introduce 1,200 new electric buses by 2028 and convert existing bus depots in Greater Sydney to battery electric technology. Premier Chris Minns highlighted the significance of local production in enhancing public transport efficiency, creating jobs in regional areas, and reducing emissions.
