The Government-owned power company NTPC has achieved a significant milestone in green fuel production by successfully synthesizing CO2 captured from flue gas with hydrogen to produce methanol at its Vindhyachal plant in New Delhi. NTPC Chairman Gurdeep Singh highlighted the historic nature of this achievement, as both the CO2 capture plant and the CO2-to-methanol plant are the first of their kind globally. The company is also actively pursuing other sustainable fuel technologies such as Gen-4 ethanol, green urea, and sustainable aviation fuel. NTPC further demonstrated its commitment to green energy by launching hydrogen-fuel buses in Leh, showcasing advancements in clean transportation. The 50th Raising Day celebration also saw the unveiling of a new logo representing NTPC's dedication to growth and excellence, as well as the launch of various CSR initiatives including a Girl Empowerment Mission benefitting over 10,000 girls from rural communities. Gurdeep Singh praised the company's founders for laying a strong foundation, emphasizing NTPC's resilience and ambition for a sustainable future.
