State-run NTPC in India unveiled its hydrogen-fuel buses that are planned to operate in Ladakh as part of the celebration of the company's 50th foundation day. The company's CMD, Gurdeep Singh, virtually launched the hydrogen-fuel buses and also announced the successful synthesis of CO2 captured from flue gas with hydrogen to produce methanol at NTPC’s Vindhyachal plant. This achievement is considered a significant milestone in carbon management and sustainable fuel production, being the first of its kind in the world. NTPC emphasized its commitment to renewable energy by working on projects related to Gen-4 ethanol, green urea, and Sustainable Aviation Fuel. The company also highlighted its progress in hydrogen, carbon capture, and other innovative technologies. On the occasion, NTPC unveiled its 50th-year logo and launched new IT applications, along with releasing a special comic book focusing on girl empowerment through its CSR programme called GEM, which has positively impacted over 10,000 girls from rural communities.
