Polish bus manufacturer MMI has secured €7.7M from the Vinci SA fund to develop electric buses, including low-entry, low-floor, and normal-floor variants. The initiative aims to combat environmental pollution caused by diesel buses in urban areas. The European Commission has set a target for all new city buses to be zero-emission by 2030 to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. MMI plans to enhance its zero-emission drive technology, develop a hydrogen fuel cell-powered electric minibus, and double its vehicle production capacity. The company focuses on creating lightweight buses with improved range and efficiency. Recent financial growth has allowed MMI to plan for a full range of minibuses within three years, aligning with European market needs and expanding operations in various countries. Vinci SA sees MMI's development schedule as in line with market expectations, especially regarding EU regulations on zero-emission urban transport. The partnership aims to foster sustainable development and technological transformation in the region, positioning MMI for a strong international market presence.
