Sembcorp Industries has made significant strides towards green hydrogen production by signing two non-binding memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with the Government of Odisha, India. The MOUs were signed by Sembcorp's subsidiaries, Sembcorp Green Hydrogen India Pvt Ltd (SGHIPL) and Sembcorp Development Ltd, in the presence of high-level officials from Singapore and Odisha. SGHIPL will explore the development of a green hydrogen production facility with a substantial production capacity of 720,000 tonnes per annum, aiming to create over 2,000 job opportunities in Odisha. In addition, Sembcorp Development Ltd signed an MOU to assess the potential for an industrial park in the state. These agreements align with the collaboration framework between Singapore and India, focusing on sustainability, among other key pillars. The move signifies Odisha's importance in India's shift towards a low-carbon future and highlights Sembcorp's commitment to expanding its presence in India with support from partners like Enterprise Singapore. The signing of these MOUs coincided with the visit of Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, underscoring the significance of the partnership in advancing green hydrogen initiatives and sustainable development in India.
