Solaris has recently delivered the first batch of hydrogen-powered buses to Emilia-Romagna transport operator TPER for use in Bologna and Ferrara, Italy. The 37 Urbino 12 buses are part of a total order of 137 vehicles, which will be deployed in the region in two configurations for urban and city/suburban routes. These buses are equipped with a 70kW fuel cell and 37.5kg of hydrogen storage, enabling them to operate with zero emissions and quietly. The funding for this project comes from a collaboration between TPER, city authorities, Solaris, EU funds, and Italy's Recovery and Resilience Plan. The delivery of these buses signifies a step towards sustainable public transportation in the region. With over 430 Solaris hydrogen buses already in operation across Europe, the advancement of hydrogen technology in the transportation sector is becoming increasingly prominent. This initiative not only promotes environmental sustainability but also showcases the effectiveness of hydrogen as a clean energy source for urban mobility.
