The Advanced Propulsion Centre UK (APC) has unveiled a forecast stating that the UK could benefit from approximately £2.4bn through the production of zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles (HDVs). These vehicles, including heavy goods vehicles and buses, play a pivotal role in reducing emissions in the UK transport sector. The government's commitment to phasing out non-zero-emission HGVs and ensuring all new HGVs are zero-emission by 2040 aligns with the goal of achieving low-carbon transport. A key highlight of the APC report is the expectation that 25% of the 35,000 HGVs and buses to be produced by 2035 will be fuel-cell electric vehicles utilizing hydrogen technology.
